What is Shrimp Scampi?

While the term might be familiar to you, as it’s a staple of many seafood eateries, the precise method of preparation that makes shrimp scampi a unique dish might escape you, so allow us to take a few moments and provide an explanation. Scampi is actually a culinary term used to describe a small lobster that’s also known as Dublin Bay Prawns. (Naturally, the modern recipes are somewhat different from the origins listed here.) The modern method of preparing shrimp scampi involves butter, garlic, lemon, and wine sauce.

Preparation & Presentation

While there is no definitive way in which you prepare the shrimp for scampi, as many have used fresh and frozen shrimp, fresh is the prepared type utilized by many chefs. The most common attribute of shrimp scampi is found in the various side dishes that accompany the shrimp. The most common these are noodles, rice, along with a dosage of steamed vegetables. If you’re pairing your meal with a glass of wine or two, white is the preference, in particular chardonnay. The dish tends to be light, so a robust dessert such as cheesecake is the perfect way to conclude the evening.

Shrimp Scampi at Captain Eddie’s Seafood

As we take great pride in our incredible selection of seafood entrees, Captain Eddie’s has its own way of serving up the succulent dish we’ve all come to know and love called Shrimp Scampi. Our version starts out with a considerable and generous portion of the crustacean served atop linguine and after it’s been tossed in a light and creamy sauce. Perfect with a glass of wine or one of our other finely crafted cocktails, it’s the perfect meal for a romantic (or solo) evening.

Captain Eddie’s Seafood serves up the best in cuisine, and cocktails, and has an on-site fish market for all of your seafood needs. For a menu, reservations, and much more, drop an anchor at captaineddiesseafood.com.
